A statement that can be proven through reasoning, most commonly used in mathematics and physics. For example, the Pythagorean Theorem states that the sum of the squares of two legs of a right triangle is equal to the length of the hypotenuse squared. Though it is not immediately clear that this is true, it can be proven mathematically and thus is a theorem.
