Density - This lesson introduces the concept of density, its measurement and the relationship to buoyancy.
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
Physical Science / Structure and Properties of Matter

Energy: An Introduction - An introduction to the forms and changes in energy. This lesson discusses potential and kinetic energy as well as introducing the 1st and 2nd law of thermodynamics.
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
Physical Science / Transfer of Energy

Temperature - An introduction to the relationship between energy, heat and temperature. This lesson compares the 3 major temperature scales.
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
    Physical Science / Heat

The Metric System: Metric and Scientific Notation - This lesson describes the history and basic operation of the metric system as well as scientific notation. The simplicity of the metric system stems from the fact that there is only one unit of measurement (or base unit) for each type of quantity measured (length, weight, etc.).
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
    Beyond the NSES

The Scientific Method - This provides an introduction to our series of modules that discuss the practice of science and scientific methodologies.
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
History and Nature of Science / Nature of Scientific Knowledge

Unit Conversion: Dimensional Analysis - This module provides an introduction to the Dimensional Analysis method (i.e. the Factor Label Method) of converting among units of measurement and solving mathematical problems.
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
    Beyond the NSES
